The Onsan Industrial Park Greenway Project which has been promoted by Ulsan City to improve the environment will be accelerated due to the voluntary participation of the companies operating in the industrial complex.
The City of Ulsan announced that it would hold an Ulsan City-Council of Onsan Industrial Park Site Managers signing ceremony for performance elevation of the Onsan Industrial Park Greenway Project at the International Conference Hall on the 4th floor of the main building of Ulsan City Hall at 14:00 on May 24 with the attendance of 17 officials including the deputy mayor for political affairs, Joo Bong-hyeon, chair of the Council of Onsan Industrial Park Site Managers, Choi Jun-ho, and site managers from company manufacturing plants.
The signing ceremony consists of congratulatory addresses by the deputy mayor for political affairs and the chairman of the Council of Onsan Industrial Park Site Managers, signing of the agreement and taking pictures.
The agreement stipulates that the Council of Onsan Industrial Park Site Managers will actively participate in the Onsan Industrial Park Greenway Project and delineates the scope and methods of participation.
According to the terms and conditions of the agreement, the Council of Onsan Industrial Park Site Managers shall make a contribution to the enhancement of the effect of the project by promoting an internal afforestation project using the land in the factory in connection with the Greenway Project and be cooperative in the use of land that is necessary for the afforestation project. This will include the plantation of trees in company-owned vacant land.
In addition, duties shall be clearly defined and classified by each company for systematic and effective management of the Greenway after completion. The City of Ulsan agreed to provide all possible administrative and financial support under current laws and budget plans for effective and smooth implementation of the agreement.
An official from the municipal authority said, “We are going to get more support from companies and accelerate the project because of the agreement.” He added, “We believe that this project will be a paragon of the Greenway Project which is jointly promoted and managed by public and private sectors.”
Meanwhile, the Onsan Industrial Park Greenway Project is an afforestation project which will be developed along the street (26km-long, 195,000㎡) in the Onsan Industrial Complex with an estimated cost of 15 billion won. It was launched in 2008 and is slated to be completed in November 2010.
