Ambassadors from 11 nations discuss biological resources in Korea

The National Institute of Biological Resources (NIBR) invited ambassadors from 11 nations including South Africa, Costa Rica, and Cambodia to have a meeting on cooperation for biological resources on May 11, 2010.

Ambassadors from Central and South America, Africa and Southeast Asia expressed their strong interest in NIBR’s activities including developing biological resources and conducting researches on the use of biological resources. In particular, they requested for sharing information on experiences of using biological resources and making efforts to divide profits equally with nations which provide biological resources.

Chong-chun Kim, president of NIBR said he plans to extend biological resources research and development project to Central and South America and Africa which have abundant biological resources.

Participated by ambassadors from subtropical monsoon region, repository of biological resources, the meeting is expected to become an opportunity to enhance cooperation with nations in this region and obtain diverse biological resources through active exchange of information and human resources.
